Provence is made from polypropylene yarn, which means its stain resistance is built into the fibre rather than sprayed on as a finishing treatment. The colour is locked into the yarn and the fibre doesn't absorb water-based spills, so they sit on top and lift away — and it's bleach-cleanable, so most household stains can be cleaned with a diluted bleach solution without affecting the colour. Because that protection is part of the fibre, it won't wash out or wear off the way an applied stain treatment eventually does. It's naturally mothproof too.
